Broadway Records is proud to announce the release of LIZZIE, a rock concept double album which is due for release on October 8, 2013. It is available for pre-order at http://amzn.com/B00CIIFKAM. The first single, “Gotta Get Out of Here” is a Rock Anthem that sums up the empowering message behind the gory story.
LIZZIE features Carrie Manolakos and Storm Large as the infamous Borden sisters. Manolakos (Lizzie) is perhaps best known for her viral YouTube cover of Radiohead’s “Creep,” taped live at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, which has been viewed over 1 million times.
Carrie’s incredible range is featured on the debut single. She relates to her murderess character in many ways because of her range of extreme emotions. Carrie says, “I’m very comfortable in this role. I love Lizzie because she has many different shades to her personality. She goes from incredibly vulnerable, almost childlike, to fits of rage, power, and ferocity, where she takes control of her life and her circumstances. The song in itself outlines the story.”
Carrie adds, “This is one of the first moments in the show, where she snaps, and it’s obvious that’s something scary, for her, and for everyone else. It becomes a physical thing where she actually can’t keep it inside — the rage, anger, sadness and frustration. She hopes and wants it to be different…but it never changes. When she snaps completely in her most intense psychotic fit of rage she murders her father and step-mother with an axe. In a weird and twisted way, that’s the first time a sense of peace and complete power rushes over her, as she finally found some sense of control.”
A special double-disc set packed with murder, incest, love, betrayal, sexual manipulation, evidence tampering, and balls-to-the-wall rock and roll. LIZZIE tells the bloody legend of America’s first and favorite axe-wielding double-murderess and Victorian hometown girl, Lizzie Borden. The creators of LIZZIE — Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner and Alan Stevens Hewitt — re-imagine her story as a transformation from downtrodden spinster to rock and roll legend, in the process creating a genuine American myth.
LIZZIE creator, Steven Cheslik-deMeyer sums it up and says, “Rock and Roll is the perfect way to tell this story because it’s is all about the young generation rebelling against their parents, casting off the shackles of the older generation in order to come into their own. Lizzie does that literally. She kills her parents.”
LIZZIE is Executive Produced by The Broadway Consortium (Van Dean and Kenny Howard) and Brunish Trinchero LLC (Brisa Trinchero and Corey Brunish).
