The TUTS Underground season opener, the rock musical Lizzie, plays Oct. 10-20 in the Hobby Center’s Zilkha Hall.
Directed by Kent Nicholson, the cast includes Carrie Manolakos, Carrie Cimma, Natalie Charle Ellis and Courtney Markowitz.
Based on an original concept by Steven Cheslik-deMeyer and Tim Maner, Lizzie features a book by Maner, music by Cheslik-deMeyer and Alan Stevens Hewitt, lyrics by Cheslik-DeMeyer and Maner, with additional music by Maner and orchestrations and additional lyrics by Hewitt. The musical is billed as the "blood soaked retelling of the legend of Victorian girl and leading double murder suspect Lizzie Borden."
The creative team also includes costume designer Lisa Zinni, set designer John Farrell, sound designer Andrew Harper, lighting designer Jack Jacobs and projection designer Joe McGuire. Musical direction is by Jimmy Vukovich.
